The Experiment (Auditorium)
The Text of Light (feat. Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Ulrich Krieger, Alan Licht & Tim Barnes)
The Text of Light group was formed in NYC, 2001 with the idea to perform improvised music to the films of Stan Brakhage from the American Avante-Garde (50s-60s etc), an under-known period of American filmic poetics. Members of the group include Lee Ranaldo and Alan Licht (gtrs/devices), Christian Marclay and DJ Olive (turntables), William Hooker (drums/perc), Ulrich Krieger (sax/electronics), and most recently Tim Barnes (drums/perc). Various combinations of these players attend ‘Text’ gigs, depending on individual schedules, so the group takes on various permutations—sometimes all members participate, sometimes not. To date the group has performed with the following films: Brakhage’s Text of Light, Dog Star Man, Anticipation of the Night, Songs; Harry Smith’s Mahagonny outtakes, Oz-The Approach to the Emerald City, and Late Superimpositions. The group has headlined the Victoriaville Music Festival, Canada (2002); Three Rivers Film Festival, Pittsburgh; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and have done 2 tours of Europe to date, as well as performing in New York City and other USA club and cinema venues. In 2009, the group performed in Toronto at a major music festival. Plutopia 2011 is proud to have them headline our upcoming sense event.

Bodytronix
(Austin, Experimental Electronica)
“Austin duo made up of Eric Archer and Erich Ragsdale who do live electronic jams with a couple tables overflowing with odd handmade electronic instruments and retro gear. The philosophy behind Bodytronix, jamming with homemade gear & retro gear, isn’t new but what is so appealing about this group is the musicality of their jams. They are able to take this mish-mash of oddball gear and make music that is refreshing but has a musical sensibility about it. They walk the line between experimental and popular music with a mad scientist edge about them. The prize piece of gear at the show was Eric Archer’s new vocal synthesizer which he had singing in english throughout the performance.” ~ The Redfax Transmission
Nullsleep (with special guest, NO CARRIER)
(NYC, 8-bit Artist)
Nullsleep is the alias of Jeremiah Johnson, an electronic musician whose style could best be described as post-cyberpunk: a combination of distorted synthpop, electro, and industrial produced with repurposed low-bit electronics. His approach embraces the politics of appropriation, leveraged limitations, destructive process and data corruption. The result is a wall of digital noise driven by a heavy beat, expanding and collapsing in a series of glitches and drones emanating from cheap plastic devices. In 1999 Nullsleep cofounded 8bitpeoples, a collective of artists interested in the audio-visual aesthetics of early home computers and video game consoles. He has since released a number of recordings through 8bitpeoples, Astralwerks, Aniplex and others. Based in New York City, Nullsleep has performed over 150 shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including successful world tours in 2006 and 2009.

Intimate Stranger with Telefunken
(Chile, Croatia, UK, US, Music & Interactive 3D Audiovisual Show)
Intimate Stranger: After four years of touring Latin America, the UK, Europe and the USA, Intimate Stranger – an international band formed in 2006 by Chilean guitarist Lautaro Vera (Cucsifae, Don Fango, Disturbio Menor) and English/Croatian singer/bassist Tessie S-Woodgate, and drummer Mauricio Muñoz has finally had the breakthrough they deserve with the release of their second album “Under” in June 2010. The title song is getting extensive radio play across the globe, (major US student stations and top South American stations such as Horizonte and Rock and Pop). The video for “Under” is now on MTV and the press reviews for the album and in particular the second single from the album, Nighttime are sensational. Since its formation in 2006, the band has lived in London, Santiago and more recently in Austin, TX playing at venues as diverse as The Rock Garden, and The Dublin Castle in London, The Roxy in Buenos Aires, Club Blondie, Santiago, to the Parish in Austin and the Warehouse in Houston and Tipitinas in New Orleans. Intimate Stranger has performed with: Cheap Trick, Surfer Blood, High on Fire, Anita Tijoux, Carl Stone, The Raincoats, Hello Cuca, Sky Larkin, Crystal Castles and more.
Adding keyboardist Ismael Palma in 2008, the new set up with synths and keyboards has further evolved the band’s sound, as is reflected in the their new material, which Derek Lactaoen, in Revolver magazine describes as somewhere between the female rock vocals of the Kills and the inviting voice of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, although he adds: Intimate Stranger tends to break barriers when it comes to labeling them with a genre.” Karl Nielsen (Head of Marketing at Canal U TV (VITV/Fizz) in London describes the style as “unique and captivating”.
March 2010 they pre-released their second album Under, to coincide with their SXSW 2010 full-house Showcase at Maggie Mae’s and a tour of the southern states of the USA (Santa Fe to New Orleans and all the major and college cities on route, supported by strong TV, radio and press including live performances and interviews on Fox, KEYE TV and ME TV).
With a growing fan base in the USA and headliner status in Chile at the top venues in Santiago, the band found themselves garnering major coverage on Spin Earth, Spinner, Extravaganza, Revolver, Disorder, Austin 360, EMOL, Music Popular and a half page interview in Chile’s leading national newspaper “El Mercurio”, which stated “…A singer who is always able to find the perfect intonation and melody and a guitarist who is equally able to compliment and pick out those strong melodies…”.
All this followed on from the band being selected for a major interview in the January 2009 edition of Rolling Stone Chile for the “Leading Ladies of Rock 2009′ special, with a half-page photo of singer Tessie, on the inside front cover.
